Rabbi Zira was one of the greatest Amoraim of the third generation.
Born in Babylon, he was orphaned by his parents as a child.
He studied at the Sura and Poombadita yeshivas

Rabbi Yehuda his Rabbi, believed that “everything that comes from Babylon to the Land of Israel passes ON DO NOT DO  commend for god But Rabbi Zira longed to live in the Land of Israel and immigrated to the Land in spite of it.

He expressed his fondness for the Land of Israel on various occasions in his statements:
“The Air in the Land of Israel is waiting

In Israel, he settled in Tiberias and studied with Rabbi Yochanan and Rish Lakish, and their students were Rabbi Emmi, Rabbi Asi, and Rabbi Elazar.

After immigrating to Israel and being ordained he was called Rabbi Zira, or Rabbi Zeira. His name was probably given to him by the name of his short stature.
When Rabbi Zira immigrated to Eretz Israel, he fasted 100 fasts so that the fire of hell would not control him.
And every 30 days would go into a heated stove, to check if the fire protection is still in effect.
And he was never controlled by fire.
