Yehuda Ben Ya’akov Tomb

The tomb of Yehuda ben Yaakov is traditionally located in the heart of the city of Yehud in the center of the country. The tomb marks an ancient building with a dome, and a large tombstone inside. Behind the building is a large public garden with a monument in memory of the Bnei Yehud who fell in their military service. The identification of the location is based on an Arab tradition that identifies the place as the tomb of Yehuda ben Yaakov
Judah was the fourth son of Leah, Jacob’s wife. Although he was not the eldest, he was shown leadership skills from a young age and was in fact a senior to his brother. From the tribe of Judah arose the house of David, in whose kingdom stood the temple, and from his seed the king of Messiah would rise.
In the Midrashim, Judah is considered a mighty hero of power, who also confronted him with the viceroy of Egypt, his brother Joseph. Among the descendants of Judah are Nachshon ben Aminadav – the first to enter the Red Sea, Caleb son of Jephunneh – one of the two spies sent by Moses who remained faithful to the land of Israel and were allowed to enter it, King David and Solomon his son as well as Daniel Ishmudot. According to tradition, a lion appeared in the flag of the tribe, implying the blessing he received from his father “Gur Aryeh Yehuda”
