The Tomb Location is in the city of Tiberias  side by the Sea of Galilee in the NORTH OF ISRAEL

Rabbi Meir was one of the greatest Tannaim of the fourth generation, a disciple of Rabbi Akiva, and one of the leaders of the generation during the transition of the Sanhedrin to the Galilee after the Bar Kochba revolt.

According to the Talmud he was a descendant of Nero Caesar who converted. Accordingly, another source claims that his original name was Nehorai (or Misha – for another version), an Aramaic translation for ‘Meir’, and is called Meir as ‘enlightened the eyes of sages in Halacha’.

His wife Bruria, the daughter of Rabbi Hanina ben Tardion, is considered a wise and knowledgeable woman in the Torah.

Rabbi Meir’s sharpness was especially well known, until they said of him: “Visible and known before the one who said and was the world that there is no one like him in his generation.
