Hatzeva Hill Mountain peak
Hatzeva Hill, located in the heart of the Middle Arava, is a trapezoid-shaped hill, from which there is a spectacular view of the northern Arava, with the benefits of marl, red mountains and even the small crater. At the foot of the hill, to the east, is the ancient site of Ein Hatzeva, which is identified with the biblical date and can be seen as the remains of a Roman fortress, a temple and more.
The trip to Givat Hatzeva is easy and suitable for the whole family, where you can, as mentioned, enjoy a beautiful view and take a roll in the magical dune in the place. It is recommended to walk in the place in the evening when the desert landscape and the Red Mountains are breathtaking.
Starting and ending point: The beginning of a walking trail marked in red near Ein Hatzeva (Ir Ovot).
The red trail turns south and crosses the Nahal Hatzeva gorge, which is laden with desert vegetation as the desert shrubs. Next to a small tree of spiral method the path begins to climb with a somewhat steep (but short) slope to the top of the hill. From the stage at the top of the hill you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Red Mountains in the east and the courtyard ridge in the west.
At the top of the hill the trail changes color to black and it descends east. Before descending, it is highly recommended to continue to the top of the narrow spur at the top of the hill, which faces south. The promontory of the hill reveals wide channels of streams, adorned with acacia trees, an unparalleled spectacular sight.
Down the hill the black path passes through red sandstone rocks. You can go down the trail or run with the kids through the lovely dune next to the trail and then get back in the car on the red trail.
Hatzeva Hill is a hill from the rest of which overlooks the Arava. A circular trail about an hour-long, climbs to the hill and descends back through a small dune to the parking lot. A short and nice route to break and diversify the long way.
Arrival: At the Ein Hatzeva junction, turn toward the city of Avot and the crocodile farm. After about 300 meters we turn left and at the first turn, we turn right. We will pass the crocodile farm and park in the parking lot from which a red marked path emerges. At the foot of the hill, the red path meets a path marked in black. You can ascend in any of them (they meet again at the top of the mountain) but it is recommended to ascend with the red trail and descend the black trail to “earn” the descent down the dune.
Length of the trip: about 1.5 km.
Suitable for families. Suitable for fall, winter and spring. In summer, the route can be done early in the morning or near sunset
In winter, there are fears of floods in the Judean Desert and in the south of the country
